How To Find A GOOD Job

Some of you may recall that in a meeting early this year, we covered a Powerpoint provided to us by Jim Stokely, co-author of How To Find A GOOD Job In 90 Days.

His book has been getting solid reviews and may be of interest to you.

Greening the Upper Miami Valley

You may want to mark your calendars for this. On October 7 from 1 – 8:30 p.m., Edison State will be holding a “Greening the Upper Miami Valley” expo. There will be speakers as well as exhibitors showing products that help to save energy and have other environmentally friendly attributes.

The expo is free and open to the public but Edison is asking that folks who intend to be there contact them at 773-7816 just to let them know so that they can have an approximate count on how many people to expect.

This could be a great way to network and learn about area businesses.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

Dear Network for Job Seekers,

We hope this finds you well. It is with a heavy heart but also a feeling of celebration and hopefulness that we announce that the Network for Job Seekers, which has been meeting at the Sidney-Shelby County YMCA, is being discontinued.

Over the past 13 months and 40 meetings, we have shared our hearts, our fears, and our joys with one another… and God has been there with us. We thank you for your participation.

We have during this time seen many participants find jobs … some even finding their dream job. Attendance at the meetings has declined significantly over the past few months and, ultimately, that was our goal. It has also become increasingly difficult to find fresh and relevant, helpful information to bring to each meeting.

While we are, for now, discontinuing our regular meetings, we understand and respect the pain and difficulty experienced by those in the job market, as well as by their families. Therefore, we will continue to do several things out of a desire to bring ongoing hope and encouragement to those who continue to be displaced by the rough economy.

Some of the things we will be doing are as follows:

1) On September 9, we will hold an informal support meeting at the Y at 8:30 a.m. for those who would like to stop by and have one more point of formal connection to this group.

2) As interest levels merit, Ed Thomas has committed to allowing ongoing informal networking and support/encouragement for job seekers who wish to come and meet in the lobby of the Y on Thursdays at 8:30 a.m.

3) We will continue to email out job opportunities and helpful ideas and encouragement to those who have registered on our job seekers list. We will continue to do all we can to make connections for you which will hopefully lead to the job of your dreams!

4) The YMCA will continue to maintain helpful information on its website at http://www.sidney-ymca.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=85:network-for-job-seekers&catid=40

5) We will continue to maintain and update the blogsite, bringing you ideas and encouragement in your job search, at http://networkforjobseekers.blogspot.com/

Thank you again for your support. Despite the discontinuation of our regular formal meetings, please keep in mind that we can all always be Jesus’ hands and feet … bringing encouragement and support to one another and helping each other network and make connections.

May God Bless You,

Jim Liggett
