With the current economy, it may take a significant amount of time to find work

Update and Questionnnaire

We hope that this finds you well. The Network for Job Seekers has now impacted 59 job seekers in the northern Miami Valley. If you have been able to attend meetings, we hope that you have left feeling loved, supported, encouraged, and better prepared to deal with what faces you.

Today’s meeting featured a speaker from the library who was very helpful at explaining the huge number of job search resources they have available. We then broke down into small groups for lively discussion and practicing typical interview questions.

Also, Mike Toal told us about a company in Piqua that is preparing to hire electrical component assemblers and a production supervisor. If you or someone you know may be interested, please drop a note to me at tmiller@classicroof.com

Additionally, we are pleased to announce that the Network for Job Seekers website is now up at http://networkforjobseekers.blogspot.com/
Please check it out for frequent updates.

Finally, we would appreciate your help in answering a few questions … please drop me a note at tmiller@classicroof.com and let me know the following:

What have you liked the most about Network meetings?

What things that have been discussed at the meetings have you utilized already in your job search?

What would you find to be helpful to be covered in future meetings?

If you have attended some but not all Network meetings, what has kept you from attending? (We hope that it is because you have found employment!)

Thank you again. We hope to see you next Thursday!

Fourth Meeting

The fourth Network For Job Seekers meeting was held this morning. We have now positively impacted 59 job seekers from the northern Miami Valley. We hope that attendees are feeling encouraged, supported, inspired, and better prepared to deal with the reality of a job search.

Today's meeting featured a speaker from Amos Memorial Public Library talking about resources they have available to help with a job search. We then broke down into small groups to practice our skills at answering typical interview questions.

We hope to see you next week!

Update

This is a reminder that the next Network for Job Seekers meeting will be tomorrow (Thursday) morning at the Sidney-Shelby County YMCA from 8:30 – 10:30 a.m. If you need childcare (up top age 6) please call the Y this morning to let them know.

Our meeting tomorrow will have Bud Ford with the devotional time and then we have Suzanne Cline talking about services and materials available through the library, followed by some time discussing and practicing interviewing skills.

If you are a Job Seeker and you wish to do so please bring your completed Registration Form.

Also, if you know other job seekers, please invite them to join the Network.

One more thing … last week we heard Mike Toal talk about the importance of computer skills. We have also heard much about the importance of networking. If you are on FaceBook, please look me up and ask me to be your friend and then I can connect you with others from the Network. You should be able to find me on FaceBook by searching todd.miller2

Following at the end of this email, if you’re interested, is a devotional we received today from Steve Troxel God’s Daily Word Ministries. It spoke to us and perhaps it will to you too.

Our Christian walk involves a process of renewing our mind. Paul wrote to the Romans about this renewal as an on-going process of transformation (Romans 12:2). He also wrote about a renewed mind as something which has already occurred; "But we have the mind of Christ" (1 Corinthians 2:16).

The consistent message through all the New Testament is that through faith in Jesus we are given a new birth, with a new heart, a new Spirit, and a new mind. However, we are continually exhorted to live as a new creation, worship with a new heart, receive guidance and strength from a new Spirit, and make decisions and set priorities with a new mind. We must learn to walk according to the transformed life we have been granted!

Philippians 2:5
"Your attitude (or mind in the KJV) should be the same as that of Christ Jesus."

Jesus came to give His life as a sacrifice for sin. But many portions of His life were for the express purpose of giving us an example by which to live. With all the power of the Universe at His command, He humbled Himself and demonstrated the mind and attitude of a servant; "The Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve" (Matthew 20:28).

He demonstrated a mind of obedience and lived to honor His Father in ALL He did - even though being obedient might result in discomfort or pain...or even death: "My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from Me. Yet not as I will, but as You will" (Matthew 26:39).

As He obediently served, Jesus also demonstrated a mind void of all pride. With more abilities than we can possibly comprehend, Jesus still gave all the glory to His Father; "By Myself I can do nothing...for I seek not to please Myself but Him who sent Me" (John 5:30). His entire life became an example of how we are to be an empty vessel through which God may work.

Moments before He died - after being beaten, whipped, spit upon and nailed to a cross - Jesus still demonstrated the mind of supreme love and forgiveness; "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing" (Luke 23:34).

Though we know we have far to go, the mind of Christ becomes our example to follow. We must develop the mind of a humble servant, void of pride, who desires nothing more than for our Heavenly Father to work in and through our life. Let's live as His Child, loving and forgiving others as Christ first loved and forgave us. Let's continue to be transformed, and more fully develop the mind of Christ.

Network Update

1) The Aileron Center in Tipp City is advertising both for a Facility Specialist and a Controller. You can learn more about these positions at http://www.aileron.net/communityEmployee.jsp?navId=3&subNavId=8

2) Please ask for a copy of our Job Seeker Registration form. Several of you have completed this already. It is entirely optional and your responses will be kept confidential but completing this form will help us to know the skill sets available in our area so that we can begin to promote those skill sets to local employers. You would always be contacted for permission before your name would actually be given out to anyone. You can complete the form and bring it to our next meeting.
